School years

The Lunches for Children project has completed its tenth school year, during which it has been assisting socially disadvantaged students from elementary schools whose parents cannot afford to pay for school lunches. In the school year 2022/23, we supported 14,496 children from 1,190 elementary schools across the Czech Republic, which is an increase of 1,758 supported children and 94 more participating schools compared to the previous school year. The number of children supported increased by 14% annually. The number of participating schools increased by 9%. The total amount disbursed reached nearly CZK 78 million. The overall amount disbursed for Lunches for Children since the beginning of the project exceeded CZK 315 million.

The Lunches for Children project has completed its ninth school year, during which it has been assisting starving students from elementary schools whose parents cannot afford to pay for school lunches. In the school year 2021/22, we supported 12,738 children from 1,096 elementary schools across the Czech Republic, which is an increase of 3,029 supported children and 141 more participating schools compared to the previous school year. The number of children supported increased significantly by 31% annually. The number of participating schools increased by 15%. The total amount disbursed exceeded CZK 56 million. The overall amount disbursed for Lunches for Children since the beginning of the project has reached nearly CZK 240 million.

The “Lunches for Children” project has completed its eighth school year of assisting children from elementary schools. During the 2020/21 school year, we supported 9,709 children from 955 elementary schools across the Czech Republic, an increase of 894 supported children compared to the previous school year. The number of children thus increased by 10% year-over-year, and the total amount disbursed reached nearly CZK 47 million.

The “Lunches for Children” project has concluded its seventh school year of aiding children from elementary schools. In the 2019/20 school year, we managed to assist 8,815 children from 975 elementary schools throughout the Czech Republic, which is an increase of 696 supported children compared to the previous school year. The number of children increased by 8.5% year-over-year, and the total amount disbursed exceeded CZK 39 million.

The “Lunches for Children” project has finished its sixth school year of helping children from elementary schools. In the 2018/19 school year, we were able to aid 8,119 children from 939 elementary schools across the Czech Republic, an increase of 1,207 supported children compared to the previous school year. The number of children thus grew by 20% year-over-year, along with an increase in the number of participating schools and school canteens. The total amount disbursed was nearly CZK 34 million. The total amount disbursed for “Lunches for Children” since the start of the project is nearing CZK 100 million!

The “Lunches for Children” project has completed its fifth school year, during which it supports socially disadvantaged children to have meals in school canteens. “In the 2017/18 school year, we managed to assist 6,912 children from 876 elementary schools throughout the Czech Republic, which is an increase of 1,698 supported children compared to the last school year,” informs the project initiator and director of the non-profit organization WOMEN FOR WOMEN, Ms. Ivana Tykac. The number of children thus increased by one-third year-over-year, and the number of participating schools and school canteens increased by 15%. The total amount disbursed was nearly CZK 28 million, which is almost a double increase compared to the previous school year.

In the 2016/17 school year, we altogether helped and paid for lunches for 5,214 children from 766 elementary schools across the Czech Republic, an increase of 1,928 children compared to the previous school year. All regions of the country were involved again. The total amount paid for lunches was more than CZK 19 million. The number of children increased by almost 60% year-over-year, and the amount spent almost doubled. This is because we have been successful in assisting more children right from the start of the school year. The number of participating schools also increased by 15%, which is good news mainly because schools are our key partners in processing and managing support. Their increasing number makes our program accessible to more children throughout the Czech Republic.

The “Lunches for Children” project has finished its third school year of helping hungry children from elementary schools. “In the 2015/16 school year, we managed to assist 3,286 children from 664 elementary schools throughout the Czech Republic, which is nearly 1,200 supported children more than in the previous school year,” informs the project initiator and director of the non-profit organization WOMEN FOR WOMEN, Ms. Ivana Tykac. The number of supported children thus increased by one-third, and the total amount disbursed climbed over CZK 10 million, which is almost a double increase compared to the previous year. This is also because we paid for lunches for many more children from the beginning of the school year.

In the 2014/15 school year, the project successfully continued and assisted a total of 2,092 children from 458 elementary schools across the Czech Republic. More than CZK 5 million was disbursed for children’s lunches.

The project was launched on September 12, 2013. After swiftly completing the necessary procedures, children started having their lunches funded by this project from October 1, 2013. In the 2013/14 school year, the project assisted a total of 370 children from 93 elementary schools across the Czech Republic. The total amount disbursed reached nearly CZK 750,000. In the years 2013 and 2014, nearly CZK 1.5 million was collected in the project’s transparent account.
